Who Do YOU say that I am?

Please review the denomination comparison chart, lines #6 and #7.

Did Jesus have an identity problem? Why in Matthew 16:13 -16 did He ask the disciples “Who do You say that I am?” Peter responded with a simple answer that is the heart of Jesus’ identity: “YOU are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” Then in John 14:5-6, Jesus affirms, “I am the way and the truth and the life.  No one comes to the Father except through me.” And Peter expounds on this in Acts 4:12, “Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved.”

Why do we keep asking this question? Because and I quote from our footnote #4 of the comparison chart:  “At the 2001 GA (General Assembly) a resolution was introduced to declare ‘Jesus is the singular saving Lord’, but the language FAILED TO PASS and instead, GA would only affirm that ‘Jesus is unique.’  Again, at the 2006 GA, before modifying a proposed resolution to say that Jesus was ‘uniquely Savior’, a group of ordained commissioners stated their belief that Christ is only one among MANY paths to eternal life!”

Our leadership at Hebron, before taking their leadership vows, confess Jesus to be their Lord and Savior!! Our identify is in Christ and Him alone because He is THE way, THE truth and THE life!
